As some of you will know, we have recently been in the process of overhauling the Audio side of things here at Army of Id. We’re dorks like that.
We decided to change everything, as we’ve now outgrown the recording chain we had been using.
When it was all done, we wanted to get Xntrix in, and try recording of a Cover Version of Alicia Key’s “If I Ain’t Got You”.
Basically, in the Audio Studio, everything had to go.
From the Mics, to the Pre-amps, to the Mac itself, to the Monitors. We wanted a completely new audio chain.
We went in search of the best hardware we could lay our hands on, and began the intensive process of rebuilding the Studio from the Ground up.
All in, it took about 2 weeks to get all the new equipment in place, factoring in shipping from Germany, etc.
When we had all the new toys fitted and working, we were dying to do a test recording to see how it all worked!
We got in touch with Xntrix, and persuaded them to drop in and give the new Studio a test drive.
We made a video of the recording, showing some of the process, and you can hear for yourself how things are sounding.
Needless to say, we’re pretty excited about the results, and we look forward to lots of happy recording and Audio Post Production hours in the very near future!
