Mar 2010

March has been a very busy month indeed so far, we have been very engrossed in Production for our Capital D feature on the Dublin Courier Community, which Eleanor Bowman has done principal filming on.

We have also been working on some residual projects that fall at this time each year,  and have managed to squeeze in a web video for CCTV specialists Encom.

Feb 2010

It was good to be working with celebrated Director and Author Rob Vance again, to update some work he had previously done for BIM.

This took the final form of being delivered on DVDs, and we took care of the project from Post Production to delivery of the duplicated DVDs.

We also had a student, Jerry,  in for work experience, and he was a welcome addition to the team.  We asked Jerry to nominate an Irish Charity to produce a video from scratch for in his week, and he selected Enable Ireland, a very worthy Charity indeed.  They were exceptionally happy to help Jerry with his massive task for the week, and in the end were delighted with the work that was produced.  This turned out to be one of the most satisfying work experience stories we have.

Jan 2010

We began the Year of The Tiger with heavy bouts of pitching, which resulted in securing a Capital D segment for RTE, more news on which will follow shortly.

We also continued our own examinations of the Irish Digital Landscape, and released the initial video on YouTube.

This is planned to be a continuing series of interest to those in Digital Marketing or trying to get a grip on digital trends in Ireland.

Dec 2009

We spent the month of December 2009 on a Retainer with our client JRA Engineering.

We were helping with general marketing and strategic online development for the Business.

We were also involved in generating some Video Assets for Edelman.

Finally we began a work with a band, Xntrix, and you can see their page here.

Nov 2009

We were asked by Taz at Streets Ahead Dance to help with the online promotion of the Hip Hop Crew, Ghetto Fabulous, who were on the All Ireland Talent Show.

Following a fantastic run, they ended up being very close runners up to the finalists.  The voting was set to start on New Year's Eve for their first appearance, and Taz wanted to get ahead of the game in terms of her marketing push for the Crew.  You can see what we came up with, and what the girls can do, here.

We also continued some of our Music Programming by taking a look at the guys in Breakology, and caught up with their 5 year anniversary gig in Twisted Pepper with Roni Size and others. You can tune in on our YouTube Music Chanel here.

Oct 2009

Following the success of our DCU Marketing promo in the spring, we were asked back to create a new video for their aviation course. You can see the results here, and we quite enjoyed our days of filming around the Dublin Airport.

We were also very honoured when we were asked to give a lecture on sound design to animation students at Ballyfermot College of Education.  We thought it went quite well, but we aren't sure we're going to go the full time lecturing route just yet.  For those interested, the notes from the lecture are on the Blog here.

Speaking of sound, we were able to film the sounds (and loud they were!) of Roni Size and The Scratch Perverts at the Twisted Pepper for Breakology's 5th birthday.  You can view the video here.

And last, but certainly not least, we filmed a promo video for The Swords Music Centre to promote their school program "From Baroque to Rock".  Check out it out on their page here and if you have kids, pass it on to their school!

Sept 2009

Our "Day in the Life" video was used on the Dun Laoghaire Harbour website. You can see it here.

On one sunny afternoon, we took it to the streets to ask ordinary folks what they think makes a good ad.  We got some fairly interesting thoughts from the local crowd.  You can see their responses here on Facebook.

We also work into the night on occasion, and this time we filmed a video in Dublin on a busy Saturday night to go with some music we composed.  This was a 24 hour challenge that we set ourselves to begin from writing a song, to planning and making a video, and then having it uploaded before the 24 hours is up.  As we used several shots of the Playhouse, our video was feature on Fionn Kidney's "Make Playhouse Permanent" Facebook Group's page.  You can view it here.

Filming the WDSC 2009 Conference

We were asked to provide a 3 camera crew to cover all aspects of the 2009 World Down Syndrome Congress, which took place this year in Ireland.

This was an amazing event, and went very well indeed for the Irish hosts and organisers.

All of the crew who we contracted found themselves personally affected by the aspects of the workshops and discussions that they were filming,

and it is safe to say that we all learned something about Down Syndrome that we didn't know before.

There are a few pictures from the shoot on our facebook page.

Anti-Racism Ad Exposes Racism

Our Anti-Racism Campaign exposed a lot of Racism when it went to YouTube, and the details of the whole thing are on our blog here.

We ended up talking on Joe Duffy, 98FM and others about the comments we received on YouTube, and in the end had to talk to a lot of press also.

It is good in that it kick-started the debate on Irish Racism, whilst also being shocking in the level of vitriol that was expressed.

The debate continues.

There is also some overview of the situation on the Bloom Blog about how the situation went.

It is amazing how sick the whole thing was initially, but we're happy to report that the media exposure helped to

moderate the effect of the comments naturally and stopped it being the target of online racist groups.

June 2009

Flora Women's Mini Marathon

For the past 5 years we have been involved somehow with video elements of the Flora Women's Mini Marathon.

We normally provide the Visual Content that is broadcast on the Big Screens around town on race-day, and this year was no exception.

This is an amazing event, where 40,000 Irish women, (and some men in drag!) take to the streets on the June bank holiday Monday

every year, and raise money for their designated charities.  It is the largest event of its kind in the world, and the logistics are highly complex.

Our role is to provide broadcast inserts for the day, which are used in tandem with live race footage to remind the women involved of all the

charities they are helping, and so on.  The broadcast schedule is similar to any you'd find in a television station, and the required video has to be

delivered to the highest technical specs.  All in all it was a great success, and you can see a montage of how the event works from Flora's perspective here

Fight or Flight - RTE Edit & Scheduled Broadcast

We have also been fortunate enough to work again with Director Peter Mc Carthy, and further his work on his excellent feature length documentary film

'Fight of Flight'.

RTE have selected the film for transmission for a themed week they have coming up later this summer, and wanted Peter to film and produce a short

introduction to the story that is reflective to the unique style and high production values of the original film, and we covered the post production on this

in tandem with Good Dog Films.  It was a really interesting and challenging project, as we had to match the look of footage, some of which was

shot over 7 years ago, with the new insets shot on the formidable Sony EX 1.  We'll keep you posted as to when it airs.

Army of Id - SARI Shoot

Test Spot - Cinema Campaign - Show Racism The Red Card

We shot a test spot Ad for Show Racism The Red Card, an Irish Anti-Racism group.

This is a very worthy charity, and all credit is due to everyone involved, who gave so generously of their time and experience to help make it happen.

Stills from the shoot can be seen on facebook here, and we look forward to showing you the final piece when we have been cleared to do so.

Music Production & Post - Short Film

We were commissioned by Igloo Films to work on the recording, mixing and arranging of music for an upcoming short film they are producing.

All we can say for now is that it has something to do with chairs, and after all the auditioning, tracking, recording & mixing everyone who's been in the studio has chairs on the brain!

We look forward to seeing the final result!  Pics on Facebook here.

Fight Like Apes Video Shoot

The very talented Eoghan Kidney was shooting a promo video for the unstoppable Fight Like Apes' single 'Something Global'.

It was a very unique concept in terms of production, so the guys asked us to come in and film the 'making of' doc.

We have a 10 minute short film that gives a back-stage look at what happened on the day, and you can see both the final video and our doc at these links!

Radio Ad - Smart Telecom / Broadband

Smart have a new campaign running, highlighting some of their very promising new broadband packages.

Our in house creative wrote the copy.

We were asked to come up with the sound-alike music, and we recorded the talent, did the sound design and mixing.

You should be hearing it soon.

DCU MMK Promo Video

We recently completed a video for DCU, to recruit prospective students their Masters in Marketing Programme.

This was a really interesting project for us, you can see it here on their website.
We got as many people on the course as we could to talk a bit about what they are experiencing on this year's Programme.

We cut all of this with fresh tunes, timelapse video techniques, and it works really well as a concise product showcasing what DCU offers.

On a deeper level, we are delighted to be associated with the Marketing School in DCU, as these guys are really on the cutting edge of emerging trends in Marketing.

Marks & Spencer Fashion Show @ Dublin Castle

WHPR contracted us to shoot and edit their Catherine Condell - produced fashion show at Dublin Castle.

All of the usual glamourous faces were there, and the location itself and the production values of the show meant that we were spoiled for choice in terms of great shots.  You can check an early cut here.

This project builds on previous Fashion work we have undertaken for beloved Irish designers Deborah Veale and  Aideen Bodkin, and of course the Motorola Dublin Fashion Week.

VO & Sound Design Project - Streets Ahead Dance

We got the call from Taz from Streets Ahead Dance, with something of a tall order.
(Streets Ahead is Ireland's premiere Hip Hop Dance school, for those of you who are out of the loop).

They wanted some Sound Design work for one of their youngest Crews, the 'Lil' Hustlers'.
We needed to provide something to set the stage for the crew as they hit the stage, rather like a 'Sergeant Major' MC to introduce the Crew.

Following a couple of attempts, we managed to get what Taz wanted, and we wish them every success at the Irish Hip Hop Championships, which are on 4th & 5th April @ Gleeson Hall, D.I.T. Kevin Street.

EP Music Recording - Camille

Working in collaboration again with Beat-Meister Philly, we are recording and Producing an RnB EP for Camille.

Obviously we can't really say much more than it is going really well, it really POPS, and hopefully she'll let us put some samples of it up here so you can all hear her!

More news to come soon!
